Learning Assessment for Children Ages 5-18

Many parents seek a learning assessment when their child appears to be struggling with reading, writing, spelling, mathematics, concentration, school performance, or learning in ways that seem different to peers. Sometimes concerns are raised by parents, teachers, or schools, while other children may simply appear bright but are finding aspects of learning unexpectedly difficult.

A learning assessment can help identify your child’s unique profile of strengths and challenges and provide useful information to guide educational planning, school supports, accommodations, and future interventions. The goal is to better understand how your child learns so they can be supported to reach their full potential.

We understand assessments can feel overwhelming for children and families. Our process is designed to be warm, supportive, and child-friendly while following a structured, evidence-based approach.

CHILD Learning ASSESSMENT PROCESS

Our child learning assessments are completed across several stages to develop a comprehensive understanding of your child’s developmental history, learning profile, strengths, and areas of concern.

Session 1: Initial Clinical Interview (1.5 hours)
A 1.5-hour interview is completed with the child and their parent(s)/caregiver(s) to discuss developmental history, school functioning, learning concerns, and relevant background information.

Session 2: Learning Assessment – Part One (1.5 hours)
Your child attends a 1.5-hour assessment session involving structured assessment activities and standardised testing.

Session 3: Learning Assessment – Part Two (2–3 hours)
A further 2–3 hour assessment session is completed to gather a more comprehensive understanding of your child’s learning profile and functioning.

Session 4: Feedback Session & Outcome Delivery (30 minutes)
Parents attend a feedback session to discuss findings, outcomes, and recommendations.

A summarised diagnostic or outcome letter outlining assessment findings is provided following the session.

Optional add-on:

  • A detailed assessment report, including comprehensive findings and treatment recommendations, can be provided for an additional fee.

  • Where further testing or additional assessment measures are clinically indicated, these can be added at an additional assessment fee.

Learning Assessment FOR ADULTS 18+

Many adults seek a learning assessment when they have experienced ongoing difficulties with reading, writing, spelling, mathematics, study, concentration, or academic performance. Some individuals may have always felt they had to work harder than others, while others pursue assessment later in life during tertiary study, workplace demands, or after recognising long-standing patterns of difficulty.

A learning assessment can provide valuable insight into how you learn and process information and help identify strengths and challenges that may be impacting study, work, or everyday functioning. Assessments can assist in identifying learning difficulties, guide recommendations and accommodations, and provide practical pathways for support moving forward.

We understand that assessments can feel like a significant step. Our process is designed to be supportive, respectful, and structured while providing meaningful information that helps create clarity and direction.
