Cognitive TESTING
Cognitive Testing for Children Ages 5-18
Many parents seek cognitive assessment when they want a better understanding of how their child learns, processes information, and experiences challenges at school or in everyday life. Concerns may include attention, concentration, memory, learning difficulties, academic performance, problem-solving, or differences between potential and performance.
A cognitive assessment can help identify a child’s unique profile of strengths and challenges and provide useful information to guide educational planning, recommendations, support strategies, and future interventions. The goal is to better understand how your child learns so they can be supported to reach their full potential.
We understand assessments can feel overwhelming for children and families. Our process is designed to be warm, supportive, and child-friendly while following a structured evidence-based approach.
CHILD Cognitive ASSESSMENT PROCESS
Our child cognitive assessments are completed across several stages to develop a comprehensive understanding of your child’s developmental history, learning profile, strengths, and areas of concern.
Session 1: Initial Clinical Interview (1.5 hours)
A 1.5-hour interview is completed with the child and their parent(s)/caregiver(s) to discuss developmental history, school functioning, learning concerns, and relevant background information.
Session 2: Cognitive Assessment (1.5 hours)
Your child attends a 1.5-hour assessment session involving structured cognitive tasks and assessment activities tailored to their age and presentation.
Session 3: Feedback Session & Outcome Delivery (30 minutes)
Parents attend a feedback session to discuss findings and outcomes.
A summarised diagnostic or outcome letter outlining assessment findings is provided following the session.
Optional add-on:
A detailed assessment report, including comprehensive findings and treatment recommendations, can be provided for an additional fee.
Where further testing or additional assessment measures are clinically indicated, these can be added at an additional assessment fee.
Cognitive TESTING FOR ADULTS 18+
Many adults seek cognitive assessment to better understand how they think, learn, process information, solve problems, and manage everyday demands. Concerns may relate to attention, memory, concentration, processing speed, learning difficulties, academic performance, work challenges, or wanting greater insight into individual strengths and areas of difficulty.
A cognitive assessment can provide valuable information about how your brain processes information and help identify patterns of strengths and challenges that may be impacting daily life. For some individuals, assessments can assist with diagnosis, recommendations, educational or workplace supports, and treatment planning. For others, they simply provide a clearer understanding of how they learn and function best.
We understand that assessments can feel unfamiliar or overwhelming. Our process is designed to be supportive, respectful, and structured, while providing meaningful information that can guide future planning and support.
