Fees

Our fees are lower than the recommended rate of $200 per hour put forth by the Australian Psychological Society. Fees and rebates are dependent on the type of services required.

As a guide, the overwhelming majority of our clients pay “out of pocket” expenses of less than $50 per session as they are able to access a range of rebates to offset our fees. In some cases, clients will have no “out of pocket” expenses.

Fees can be reduced or offset by Medicare rebates, Health Insurance rebates, concessions for Health Care Card Holders and by Workers Compensation, CTP and Comcare claims.

Please contact us to discuss fees for your particular circumstances.

Fees can be paid by credit card, EFTPOS or cash. We do not accept personal cheques.

Please ensure you arrive on time as we are unable to extend sessions past the pre-booked hour

Cancellation Policy

We value your time and ours and our policy requires clients to change or cancel 3 working days in advance of your appointment. This allows us time to offer your appointment to someone else who may be waiting.

Appointments cancelled with less than 3 working days notice will attract a cancellation fee.

Rebates

MEDICARE
You may be eligible for ten counselling sessions with an instant rebate from Medicare. If you have a current GP Mental Health Care Plan (provided by your GP, a Psychiatrist or a Paediatrician) you may be eligible to to claim back up to 10 sessions in the calendar year. If you are seeing a Registrar Psychologist you are able to claim back $84.80 per session. If you are seeing a Clinical Psychologist you are able to claim back $124.50 per session.

After six sessions, Medicare requires you to see your referring doctor for a review appointment. After the review, you are eligible for six further sessions with your psychologist. In extenuating circumstances and in consultation with your referring doctor, you may be eligible for a further six sessions. This would total 10 sessions in one calendar year.

At Advantage Psychology, we can process your Medicare rebate so that it is paid into your bank account, thus saving you the inconvenience of lodging a Medicare claim.

If you have a Centrelink issue Health Care card you are eligible for the concessional rate of $100 upfront payment that gives you six bulk-billed. sessions. The upfront payment is non-refundable and out of pocket.

Rebates can be directly deposited into your bank account if you have a keycard at the time of appointment. We accept Credit card, EFTPOS and cash payments for appointments. Unfortunately, we are unable to deposit your rebate into a credit card account.

Speak to your doctor regarding your eligibility to receive a Mental Health Care Plan referral.

Please mention Item 2710 for this specific rebate.

PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE
If you have private health insurance cover, you may be able to make a claim from your health fund. In many cases, this can significantly reduce the cost of sessions. We provide HICAPS services to help process your claim onsite.

FOR INSURANCE CLAIMS
For clients with an accepted Worker’s Compensation, CTP or Comcare claim, there is usually no fee to the client as we will invoice the insurer or payer directly.  We will require a referral from their GP and we will follow up approval from the insurer prior to commencing therapy.
